Leadership Development Class
This program is a great way to develop your leadership skills. Since its inception in 2007, each Leadership Development Class has helped hundreds of members gain confidence in their leadership skills. Many program graduates have gone onto leadership positions within their state component organizations, the SSO, and the AAO.
Purpose
The Leadership Development Program provides a learning experience for individuals interested in developing leadership skills. These skills will be valuable and useful for various leadership situations including: within your work environment, church groups, civic organizations, study clubs and dental societies.
Program Outline
Participants will receive selected reading materials (e.g. short book and articles from Harvard Business Review) prior to Session One. The curriculum includes the following topics among others:
- Leadership Basics
- Parliamentary Procedures
- Organizational Basics
- Ethics
- Legal Issues
- Organizational Structure
In Session Two, the class will divide into project groups to select a challenge facing the specialty for team development of a project to present to the SSO Board of Directors at the annual meeting.
