How to be the Ideal Team Player
Mr. Dino Watt
8:00 am – 9:30 am
1.5 CE Credits
Practice Management Session
Michael Jordan said, “Great players win games, but great teams win championships”. Unfortunately, sometimes “staff” infections can creep into the office and cause drama, spread gossip, or their bad attitudes to others. Even good team members can be infected by seemingly mild personality annoyances. So, what does it take to guard your team against this office pandemic and make sure everyone is an ideal team player? There is a formula you can follow to do just that.
In this lecture, we will uncover the simple and powerful ways to better communicate as a team. How leaders can best communicate with their employees and how employees can create personal accountability in their individual roles.
Lecture Learning Objectives:
- Master the mindset by focusing on the words we use and leveling up how we think about what we do.
- Determine the three specific traits that will help all team members self-evaluate if they are supporting or sabotaging your success.

The Algebra of Orthodontic Efficiency: Mathematical Rules Don’t Change for Complex Cases!
Dr. Dan Bills
10:00 am – 11:00 am
1 CE Credit
Clinical Session
Achieving clinical excellence has always been, and should always be, our number one priority as orthodontists. However, clinical efficiency, as long as it does not come at the expense of clinical excellence, is equally as important and all too often ignored. As is true in all professions and industries, today’s orthodontic patients expect technology based, personalized conveniences. And as labor and material costs continue to rise in our profession, eliminating unnecessary appointments is essential to maintaining profitability without significant fee increases. Simply put, if we can treat a patient in fewer visits in less time, while at the same time achieving optimal levels of clinical excellence, everybody wins—patient, parents, and orthodontist. This lecture will focus on technology-based orthodontic solutions that will allow you to work smarter and live better. It will dive deep into the incredible power of clinical efficiency and how it relates to patient experience, clinical excellence, and practice profitability. And it will prove, once and for all, that clinical efficiency and clinical excellence are not mutually exclusive—even in the most complex clinical situations!
Lecture Learning Objectives:
- Learn the fundamental formula to evaluate the efficiency of your current clinical systems
- Discuss proven, technology-based clinical strategies to improve clinical efficiency while also improving clinical excellence
- Review why these key efficiency principles can also applied to even your most complex cases

Own Your Role
Mr. Dino Watt
2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
2.5 CE Credits
Practice Management Session
When you hire based on a task, you always create enslavement. When you hire based on a role, you create freedom. So how do you find and hire the people who want to take on a role and not just perform a task? It starts with the leader setting up the company and promoting the company in a way that helps everyone know exactly who you are, what you do and what your mission is. From Disney to Apple, Zappos to Tom’s Shoes, those companies who create a specific ability for team members to go beyond the tasks they are assigned, always see massive growth.
In this lecture, you will discover how leaders and team members can easily take on the task of owning their role, so that every aspect of the business experience can improve. When done, they will have a specific path to walk that will help the business naturally attract the right people, in both team members and clients, who want to help and support the company growth.
Lecture Learning Objectives:
- Discover the 5 D's that every leader and team member needs to understand in order to stay motivated, avoid burnout, and thrive every day.
- Realize the power of a simple name shift that activates a huge mind shift.
- Identify why your "vision" or "mission" is not moving the needle when it comes to employee motivation.
- Create a path to help your team members feel supported that makes them want to go above and beyond in their role.

The Latest Technology In Dentofacial Orthopedics
Dr. Tung Nguyen
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
2 CE Credits
Clinical Session
The orthodontic profession has seen an abundance of technological introductions over the past few decades. Changes that were historically impossible with orthodontics are now possible through skeletal anchorage, 3D imaging, 3D printing, and/or customized appliances. This lecture will discuss two of the latest innovations: Bone Anchored Herbst for treatment of Class II malocclusion and autotransplantation for early replacement of missing teeth. This lecture will introduce new clinical applications for these new techniques and question whether we can grow bone and reduce the need for orthognathic surgery and implants.
Lecture Learning Objectives:
- This lecture will discuss a new orthopedic method to correct Class II skeletal malocclusion using Bone Anchored Herbst.
- This lecture will review the limits of tooth movements and periodontal side effects of exceeding these limits.
- This lecture will introduce an updated protocol for autotransplantation using 3D technology.
- This lecture will discuss applications for autotransplantation, including replacement of missing or traumatized teeth, management of impacted canines, and options for craniofacial clefts.
It’s Not What You Make, But What you KEEP of What You Make
Dr. Glenn Dubroc
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
2 CE Credits
Practice Management Session
Discover how a lower-volume, relationship-driven practice empowers the entire team to work more efficiently, connect more meaningfully with patients, and contribute to a practice culture that prioritizes both professional satisfaction and work-life balance.
A repetitive and persuasive message being conveyed to new orthodontists and orthodontic residents is, “The larger your orthodontic practice, the better.” However, practices that rely on a higher volume of patients, particularly those with multiple locations, can yield more challenges, higher stress, quicker burn-out, and no guarantee of more net income. Is a lower volume practice a viable alternative in today’s business climate? For many orthodontists, the idea of a lower volume practice that affords more time to spend with each patient and which offers a less complex business entity to manage has great appeal. The concern that many doctors have is that deliberately limiting the volume of patients for whom they care may prevent them from reaching their financial needs and goals. With evidence of how orthodontists in lower volume practices are currently maximizing profitability and achieving impressive net incomes, this presentation seeks to allay that concern. The key is to focus on those factors where especially smaller practices have distinct advantages to maximize profitability. Focusing one’s practice on delivering a unique, personalized experience for a lower volume of patients can yield remarkable success while simultaneously facilitating the opportunity for a more desirable work/life balance.
Learning Objectives:
- See who benefits (and who doesn't) from you believing that a larger volume orthodontic practice is better.
- See that a lower volume, lower overhead orthodontic practice can yield an ideal balance of professional success and life outside the office.
- Learn the variables where lower volume practices have distinct advantages to maximize profitability.
- Gain more clarity on the profitability of lower volume orthodontic practices by seeing financial data from actual current practices utilizing this model.
